How effective are group therapies?
The main aim of group therapy is to offer mutual support & build self-confidence, which helps people in coping with the difficult challenges they endure while going through the detoxification process.
Gender-specific groups encourage people to open up about their issues to those coming from similar backgrounds. Gender-specific groups are formed at Avatar based on various factors like sex, gender, family backgrounds, etc. Clubbing patients from similar settings is a productive approach to instill confidence and comfort throughout the detox process.
In support groups, the group leader is responsible for creating a non-judgmental environment for recovering addicts where they can share their problems & openly ask for advice from their peers.
Whatever the specialty of each group may be, the prime focus of Group therapy is to make people aware of the intensity of their substance abuse, its consequences, and the scope of improvement related to each addiction. Through group therapies, recovering addicts will be educated on several psychological factors that lead to addiction and relapses.
