If you’re over 50 years old, Avatar is a great rehab but it does not work for younger addicts as the facility allows mobile phones during detox which is an easy way to call your friends and drug dealers . As well, Avatar has no fences with access to the woods which makes getting drugs the easiest thing on the planet. If you really want to help your beloved ones pick a tight ship place like Blue crest in NJ or any other tight ship facility but not avatar because the facility and rules are not suitable for young drug addicts .I was kicked out Avatar onAugust 21 because I stood up for a counsellor who is called Mr creep who likes to touch young girls. Located in the peaceful, serene back drop of the Ramapo mountains, just 25 mins from the Tappan Zee Bridge/ NYC, Avatar is centrally located hugging the North Jersey/NY border, you would never imagine such an inviting, beautiful, calming, and charming scene exists right outside the concrete jungle tucked away in lush greenery and awe inspiring wooded mountains, Avatar sits atop acres of sprawling fields. You could not imagine a more comfortable place to feel secure and safe when you take the first steps of your journey towards overall wellness and sobriety. Avatar’s detox provides comfortable rooms with single beds available. Each person has their own television and desk space. The bathrooms are beautifully done with great water pressure. Hair cuts, nails, and movie theatre trips happen regularly. The staff is really what sets this place apart- everyone from the MD, operations, psych, nursing, BHTs, cleaning, admissions, and kitchen go out of their way to accommodate every client’s individual needs. The food is top notch. Medical - nursing, psych, MD truly listen to you and hear you out to make sure you are as comfortable as you possibly can be in an already obviously uncomfortable situation. Clinical staff- case management and therapists - are there holding your hand every step of the way. You meet every day with clinical and medical, BHTs go out of their way to help you with anything you need (they really do). Avatar’s staff welcomes you as if your family from day 1. Pinal, the owner, makes himself available to any and every client and truly cares, which is something so rare in this corporate healthcare day and age. Extremely great rehab with the most amazing staff. The nursing staff met all of my needs starting with Dr. A and his nurses Pearl, Chris, Steph, Julietta and Rebecca. The BHT's are so welcoming with such a warm embrace starting with Donna, Alex, Katie, and Denise. They all talked to me when I was down and depressed and really enjoyed their company. The best of all is Pinal. I wouldn't be at Avatar if it wasn't for him, and also Lenny. Lenny was one of the admission staff I talked with prior to coming in, and he also got me put into a single room when I had issues with my roommate and was contemplating on leaving. He also went all-out to try to convince me to stay, which I ended up happily doing. I'm grateful to Andrew who took me to get my nails done and set up haircuts for the whole facility. If you really need anything, you just go to him because he really gets shit done. Avatar takes you to activities every week, sometimes even two. You have the ability to see a physical therapist and get massages after group hours. Most rooms here are single with a TV and a private bathroom. This is truly a haven of a rehab. Once you come to Avatar, NO other Rehabs can compete. Most of the negative reviews aren't from actual clients that have been here and shouldn't even be listened to. Avatar is the best of the best and I'd NEVER go anywhere else! So of course, I highly recommend Avatar to anyone that's interested in great treatment and even better accommodations & amenities with the ability to use your phone & laptop for work or even bring a service dog with certified paperwork. This is my second time in treatment, so I was kind of aware of what to expect from atreatment program coming in and coming to Avatar absolutely blew it out of the water. The whole experience was tremendously fantastic starting with the staff that are very welcoming and caring to all your needs. The groups ran by the counselors were helpful and to me personally, life-changing. The food is fantastic, and has multiple menu options if you don’t like whats being served that day. I was able to get a single room that has its own little-like living room and additional TV and private bathroom. The accommodations that were offered at Avatar were by far better than my first treatment experience and if I had to come back to rehab, there’s no doubt I would be coming back to Avatar!
