At Avatar’s Residential Detox Center (ARDC), we believe healing from trauma is not only possible — it can lead to growth, resilience, and renewed purpose. Our PTG: PostTraumatic Growth Program is a specialized Trauma Track embedded within our ASAM 3.5 Residential Program, designed to support individuals with traumarelated disorders in a safe, structured, and compassionate environment.
Clients enrolled in the PTG Program receive a minimum of five (5) hours per week of dedicated trauma specific group therapy, facilitated by experienced, trauma trained clinicians. Treatment integrates evidence based and body centered modalities, including:
This integrative approach allows clients to process trauma safely while building emotional regulation, insight, and coping skills.
Each PTG client receives a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation by a psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) or Medical Doctor (MD). Ongoing psychiatric monitoring is provided throughout treatment to support stabilization, symptom management, and coordination of care as part of an integrated clinical team.
Because trauma affects both the nervous system and emotional wellbeing, the PTG Program includes holistic and experiential therapies that promote grounding, safety, and reconnection with the body. Clients may participate in:
These supports enhance emotional regulation and reinforce recovery skills.
Clients receive two (2) hours of individual therapy per week, offering a private and supportive space to gently address past trauma, develop coping strategies, and create a personalized, traumainformed treatment plan. Therapy is paced intentionally, prioritizing safety, consent, and empowerment.
ARDC has intentionally created The Sanctuary — a dedicated, safe, and inviting space exclusively for PTG clients. The Sanctuary is where clients gather for trauma groups and therapeutic activities, offering a calm, supportive environment that fosters trust, emotional safety, and connection — essential foundations for trauma recovery and posttraumatic growth.
From the beginning of treatment, each client’s primary clinician and discharge planner collaborate with the client to ensure a smooth transition to a traumainformed stepdown or aftercare program, supporting continued healing beyond residential care.
At ARDC, traumainformed care extends beyond a single program. It is embedded in our mission, values, and daily practice. All staff are trained in traumainformed principles, ensuring every client is treated with dignity, compassion, and respect throughout their treatment journey.
