1. Participative Therapy: In this type of psychotherapy, the patient is as involved as the therapist in their recovery. For instance, the patient also researches more about their addiction, maintains a log of their appointments, and completes CBT assignments related to each session and their learnings.
2. Patient-Therapist Relationship: At Avatar, the initial CBT sessions are utilized to build a healthy patient-therapist relationship and assess whether the therapist is a good fit for the patient’s requirements.
3. Regular Review/ Mood Check: The patient’s mood, physical condition/health, and emotions are discussed in all sessions to find self-sabotaging patterns in behavior and thought processes, assess improvements, and check the patient’s progress. Avatar places great emphasis on “mood check” as it is an essential part of CBT. It gives material for each session. Patients and therapists also jointly assess and review previous assignments and progress.
4. “Talk” Therapy: CBT is a type of “talk” therapy that generally involves talking about the patient’s most pressing issues, which may be causing the client to abuse substances. These issues could also relate to psychological disorders such as depression or even eating disorders such as bulimia or anorexia. Measured CBT Treatment: At Avatar, our expert therapists keep a detailed account of the patient’s treatment trajectory, progress, issues, and activities, enabling them to create and execute individualized treatment programs. The progress of the patient is measured in each session by the therapist.
6. Activity-based Therapy: Being a participative therapy, CBT involves activities that encourage physical activity, self-esteem, pleasant emotions, and positive thoughts in patients. Research shows that this helps in reducing troubling thoughts and improves mood in these individuals.
7. Short-Term Treatment Plan: At Avatar, CBT is a short-term treatment, typically ranging between 10 to 20 sessions. The extent of treatment depends on the gravity of symptoms, type of disorder, stress levels, and whether progress has been made.
